Rechteckiges Tablett mit geraden Schmal-
seiten, bogenförmig ausschwingenden
Längsseiten und abgerundeten Ecken.
Umlaufend hochgezogener Rand mit zwei
Henkelförmigen Handhaben an den
Schmalseiten. Abtropfschale korrespon-
diert in der Form mit dem Tablett.

Schöner, gepflegter Zustand mit normalen
alters- und nutzungsbedingten Gebrauchs-
spuren in Form von Putzspuren, zarten
Kratzern. Originale Versilberung ist sehr
gut erhalten.

Das legendäre Café de la Paix ist weit
mehr als nur ein Café. Seit seiner Eröffnung
1862 gegenüber dem Palais Garnier gilt es
als Inbegriff des mondänen Paris. Es ent-
stand zeitgleich mit dem „Grand Hôtel“
im Zuge der großen Stadterneuerung unter
Baron Haussmann und beeindruckt bis
heute mit seinem prachtvollen Napoleon-III.-
Dekor aus Vergoldungen, Fresken und Mar-
morsäulen. Über Generationen hinweg war
es Treffpunkt von Künstlern, Schriftstellern,
Musikern und Aristokraten – darunter
Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, Guy de Maupassant,
Oscar Wilde und später Marlene Dietrich.

Vielleicht ist das Schönste am Café de la
Paix, dass es bis heute seine ursprüngliche
Funktion bewahrt hat: Es ist kein Museum,
sondern ein lebendiger Ort, an dem man bei
einem Kaffee oder einem Glas Champagner
dem Pariser Strom der Zeit zuschauen kann –
genau wie die Gäste vor 150 Jahren.

Rectangular serving tray with straight
short sides, gracefully curved long sides,
and rounded corners. The raised border
runs around the entire tray and features
two loop-shaped handles on the short sides.
The removable drip tray mirrors the shape
of the outer tray.

Presented in attractive, well-maintained
condition with normal age- and use-related
wear, including light polishing marks and
fine surface scratches. The original silver
plating remains exceptionally well preserved.

The legendary Café de la Paix is far 
more than a café. Since its opening in 1862
opposite the Palais Garnier, it has been
regarded as one of the great symbols of
elegant Parisian life. Constructed alongside
the „Grand Hôtel“ during Baron Haussmann’s
transformation of Paris, it continues to
impress visitors with its lavish Napoleon
III décor, featuring gilded ornamentation,
frescoes, and marble columns.

Over the generations, it served as a
gathering place for artists, writers,
musicians, and aristocrats, including
Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, Guy de Mau-
passant, Oscar Wilde, and later Marlene
Dietrich.

Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of
Café de la Paix is that it still fulfills its
original purpose today. It is not a museum,
but a living institution where guests can
enjoy a coffee or a glass of Champagne
while watching the flow of Parisian life
pass by—just as visitors did more than
150 years ago.
