Antike Kaffeekanne um 1890 mit gedrechseltem Holzgriff
versilbert

hergestellt von Bohrmann, Frankfurt in Zusammenarbeit mit Christofle, Paris/Karlsruhe

Maße:
Höhe ca. 21 cm – Länge des Holzgriffs ca. 16 cm
∅ Boden ca. 11 cm – ∅ Öffnung ca. 8,5 cm – Länge der Tülle ca. 17 cm
Volumen ca. 1 Liter/1000 ml – Gewicht ca. 820 g

Von einem ca. 1,2 cm hohen, runden Sockel erhebt sich ein schlichter Korpus, der sich nach oben hin verjüngt
und mit einem Scharnierdeckel abschließt. Deckel verfügt über fünf sternförmige Öffnungen, erhebt sich leicht
zur Mitte und wird dort von einem runden Knauf bekrönt.
Die tief angesetzte Tülle verläuft gerade und  gießt ausgezeichnet.
Gedrechselter Holzgriff wurde rückseitig in der Mitte der Kanne platziert, eingefaßt in ein kreisförmiges Medaillon.

Zustand:
Die über einhundertdreißig Jahre alte Kaffeekanne weist deutliche alters- und nutzungsbedingte Gebrauchs-
spuren auf in Form von Putzspuren, Kratzern, partiellem Abrieb (insbesondere im Innenbereich), Abnutzung am Holzgriff.
Dennoch ist die originale! Versilberung insgesamt gut erhalten. Die Kaffeekanne besticht durch Ihre über Jahrzehnte
gewachsene Patina und ist durchaus zur Benutzung geeignet.

Die zeitlich begrenzte Zusammenarbeit zwischen Christofle und Bohrmann symbolisiert die Blütezeit des europäischen
Kunsthandwerks um die Jahrhundertwende, als der Jugendstil und andere Kunstbewegungen florierten.

Das Café Milani in der Frankfurt Innenstadt war eine bedeutende kulturelle Institution in der ersten Hälfte des
20. Jahrhunderts und spielte eine wichtige Rolle im sozialen und künstlerischen Leben der Stadt.
Es wurde im Jahr 1874 von dem Konditor und Kaffeehausbesitzer Christian Joseph Milani gegründet, einem
italienischen Einwanderer, der mit seinem Caféhaus einen Ort schaffen wollte, der nicht nur für den Genuss von Kaffee
und Kuchen, sondern auch für den Austausch von Ideen und die Pflege der Geselligkeit stand.

From an approximately 0.47 inch. high, round base rises a simple body, which tapers upwards and closes with a hinged lid.
The lid has five star–shaped openings, rises slightly to the middle and is crowned there by a round knob.
The low-set spout runs straight and pours excellently.
Turned wooden handle was placed at the back in the center of the pot, framed in a circular locket.

Condition:
The coffee pot that is more than one hundred and thirty years old has clear signs of age and wear in the form of 
plaster marks, scratches, partial abrasion (especially in the interior area), wear marks on the wooden handle.
Nevertheless, the original! silver plating is well preserved overall. The coffee pot impresses with its patina grown over
decades and is quite suitable for use.

The temporary collaboration between Christofle and Bohrmann symbolizes the heyday of European craftsmanship 
around the turn of the century, when Art Nouveau and other art movements flourished.

The Café Milani in Frankfurt city centre was an important cultural institution in the first half of the 20th century 
and played an important role in the social and artistic life of the city.
It was founded in 1874 by the confectioner and coffeehouse owner Christian Joseph Milani , an Italian immigrant 
who wanted to create a place that stood not only for the enjoyment of coffee and cake, but also for the exchange of ideas 
and the cultivation of conviviality.
