Vase steht auf einem runden, schmalen
Sockel mit geschlossenem Boden.
Darüber erhebt sich ein schlichter
Korpus, der sich nach oben hin öffnet
und dort mit einem Wellenrand, der
sich nach außen wölbt, abschließt.

Sehr schöner Zustand mit normalen
alters- und nutzungsbedingten Ge-
brauchsspuren in Form von Putz-
spuren, Kratzern, minimalem partiel-
lem Abrieb. Originale Versilberung
ist gut erhalten.

Die United States ist ein ehemaliges
US-amerikanisches Passagierschiff und
bis heute Titelträgerin des Blauen Bandes
als schnellster Dampfer auf der Transat-
lantikroute. Sie wurde als Linienschiff
der Reederei United States Lines für den
Linienverkehr von New York nach Europa
auf der Atlantikroute eingesetzt.
Bekannt ist sie auch mit dem vorange-
stellten Kürzel als SS United States;
dabei steht SS für den englischen Begriff
Steam Ship für den Einsatz von Dampf-
turbinen in ihrer Antriebskonstruktion.

The vase stands on a round, narrow
pedestal base with a closed bottom.
Above rises a simple body that opens
toward the top and finishes with a
wavy rim flaring outward.

Very attractive condition with normal
age- and use-related signs of wear,
including polishing marks, scratches,
and minimal partial wear. Original silver
plating is well preserved.

The United States is a former
American passenger ship and still holds
the Blue Riband title as the fastest
steamship on the transatlantic route.
She was operated by United States Lines
as an ocean liner on the regular route
from New York to Europe across the Atlantic.
She is also well known as the
SS United States;
“SS” stands for Steam Ship, referring
to the use of steam turbines in her
propulsion system.
