Von einem ovalen Standfuß erhebt
sich ein ovaler, bauchig ausgeformter
Korpus, der sich nach oben hin ver-
jüngt. Tief angesetzte, geschwungene
Schnaupe einerseits, kantige Handhabe
andererseits.
Der leicht erhöhte Deckel wird von
einem ovalen, gestuften Knauf bekrönt.
Die ausgewogenen Proportionen und
die solide Verarbeitung vermitteln den
typischen Eindruck von Qualität und
Beständigkeit. Die massive Konstruktion
hält den Kaffee lange heiß.

Gemessen am Alter ist der Zustand sehr
gepflegt mit minimalen, normalen alters-
und nutzungsbedingten Gebrauchs-
spuren wie Putzspuren, zarten Kratzern,
partiellem, minimalen Abrieb.
Die originale Versilberung ist – innen
und außen ist gut erhalten.

Diese Kaffeekanne verbindet Funk-
tionalität mit zeitlos eleganter Formen-
sprache.

Am 19. April 1890 wurde die Deutsche
Ost-Afrika-Linie von einem Konsortium
deutscher Banken und Hamburger Kauf-
leuten gegründet. Die Geschäftsführung
übernahm Carl Woermann mit seinem
Vater Adolph Woermann als Aufsichts-
ratsvorsitzendem. Mit zwei angekauften
Dampfern der Woermann-Linie begann
die Linie am 23. Juli 1890 ihren Betrieb.

manufactured to a high standard of
quality by WELLNER, Aue, with a
maker’s hallmark stamped on the
underside.

Made for the first-class cabin service
aboard a passenger steamer operated
by the German shipping company
Deutsche Ost-Afrika-Linie
(D.O.A.L.), Hamburg.
The shipping company’s logo is promi-
nently positioned in the centre of the
upper third of the coffee pot.

The oval foot supports an oval, generously
rounded body that tapers towards the top.
The deeply set, elegantly curved spout is
positioned on one side, while the angular
handle is placed opposite.

The slightly raised lid is crowned by an oval,
stepped finial. Its well-balanced proportions
and solid workmanship convey the charac-
teristic impression of quality and durability.
The substantial construction helps the coffee
remain hot for an extended period.

Considering its age, the coffee pot is in very
well-preserved condition, with only minimal,
normal signs of age and use, such as poli-
shing marks, fine scratches and very slight
areas of wear. The original silver plating is
well preserved both inside and outside.

This coffee pot combines functionality with
a timelessly elegant design.

On 19 April 1890, the Deutsche Ost-
Afrika-Linie (German East Africa Line)
was founded by a consortium of German
banks and Hamburg merchants.
The company was managed by Carl Woer-
mann, with his father Adolph Woermann
serving as Chairman of the Supervisory
Board. The shipping line commenced
operations on 23 July 1890, initially with
two steamers acquired from the Woermann
Line.
