Paar Kerzenleuchter um 1915, versilbert

hergestellt von Pariser Silberscchmiede A. Frénais (1877  1927)
punziert im Boden „A. Frénais und AF mit Anker“

für das Grandhotel NEGRESCO in Nizza (Côte d’Azur)
Hotel Signet befindet sich jeweils im oberen Drittel eines Leuchters

Maße: Höhe ca. 27 cm – ∅ Fuß ca. 12,5 cm – Gewicht für beide Kerzenleuchter ca. 845 g

Kerzenleuchter stehen auf rundem, mehrfach gestuften Sockel und steigen Balusterförmig auf.
Feines geripptes Dekor, versetzt mit zarten Punkten, wechselt sich mehrfach mit glatten Silberflächen ab.
Für ein leichtes Reinigen sind Sockel und Tüllen abnehmbar.

Sehr schöner Zustand mit normalen alters- und nutzungsbedingten Gebrauchsspuren wie Putzspuren,
zarten Kratzern, Abrieb und leichten Verfärbungen (im Boden). Wunderschöner alter Silberglanz durch
erhaltene originale Versilberung – bezaubernde Patina.

Dieses zeitlos attraktive KerzenleuchterPaar erzählt aus der Geschichte der Belle Époque
an der Côte d’Azur.

Das Hotel Negresco in Nizza ist nach seinem Erbauer und Erstbesitzer, Henry Negresco, benannt.
In seiner Zeit als Leiter des mondänen Restaurants im Casino Nizza hatte er sich vorgenommen, den
schönsten Hotelpalast an der Côte d’Azur zu erbauen. Er sollte vor allem die Luxus-Herberge des
europäischen Hochadels und der weltweiten Finanz-Aristokratie werden. 1913 war es dann so weit.
Bei der Eröffnung waren unter den erlesenen Gästen neun gekrönte Häupter des europäischen Hoch-
adels anwesend. So wie Henry Negresco  es sich vorgenommen hatte, war es das luxuriöseste
Grandhotel an der Côte d’Azur geworden. Heute steht es unter Denkmalschutz.

Dimensions: Height approx. 10.6 in – Base diameter approx. 4.9 in – Weight for both candlesticks approx. 29.8 oz

The candlesticks stand on a round, multi-stepped base and rise in a baluster shape.
Fine ribbed decoration, interspersed with delicate dots, alternates several times with smooth silver surfaces.
For easy cleaning, the base and sockets are removable.

Very good condition with normal age- and use-related signs such as polishing marks,
fine scratches, wear, and slight discoloration (on the bottom). Beautiful old silver shine thanks to
the preserved original silver plating – charming patina.

This timelessly attractive pair of candlesticks tells a story from the history of the Belle Époque
on the Côte d’Azur.

The Hotel Negresco in Nice is named after its builder and first owner, Henry Negresco.
During his time as manager of the fashionable restaurant at the Nice Casino, he set out to build
the most beautiful hotel palace on the Côte d’Azur. It was intended above all to be the luxury
residence for the European high nobility and the global financial aristocracy. In 1913, the time
had finally come. At the opening, among the distinguished guests were nine crowned heads of
European high nobility. Just as Henry Negresco had envisioned, it became the most luxurious
grand hotel on the Côte d’Azur. Today, the hotel is a protected historic monument.
