Belle Époque
Antike Teekanne ca. 1910

versilbertes Weißmetall
französische Hotel-/Gastronomie-Argenterie
bodenseitig bezeichnet METAL BLANC

stammt aus dem legendären
Café de Paris, Monte Carlo
Logo des Cafés vorderseitig im oberen
Drittel der Teekanne

Maße:
Höhe ca. 15 cm
Breite ü/a ca. 25 cm
∅ Boden ca. 13 cm
∅ Öffnung ca. 9 cm
Volumen ca. 1000 ml (1 Liter)
Gewicht ca. 893 g

Formschöne, antike Teekanne in schwerer
Ausführung mit schlichtem, konisch zu-
laufenden Korpus. Unmittelbar unterhalb

gleich links neben dem Casino in Monte Carlo
Époque-Stils.

Antique Teapot, c. 1910

Silver-plated white metal
French hotel/restaurant silverware
Marked “METAL BLANC” on the underside

From the legendary
Café de Paris, Monte Carlo
The café’s logo is prominently displayed on
the front of the teapot, in the upper third.

Dimensions
* Height: approx. 5.9 in

* Overall width: approx. 9.8 in
* Base diameter: approx. 5.1 in
* Opening diameter: approx. 3.5 in
* Capacity: approx. 33.8 fl oz / 1 litre
* Weight: approx. 1.97 lb (893 g)

A beautifully shaped antique teapot of sub-
stantial weight and construction, featuring
a simple, gently tapered body. Immediately
below the opening is a narrow applied rim
with a fine crossband decoration on a five-
strand wire border.
The flat-fitting hinged lid is topped with a
decorative finial in the form of a stylized
flower bud.

Inside the spout is an integrated strainer
designed to retain loose tea leaves when
pouring. The gracefully curved handle is
thermally insulated from the body by two
spherical intermediate fittings with nume-
rous small openings. This elaborate and
visually appealing construction helps re-
duce the transfer of heat from the hot tea
to the handle.

The substantial construction gives the tea-
pot a particularly solid and distinguished
quality and also helps the tea retain its
temperature for an extended period of time.

The condition is consistent with the teapot’s
age and use. It is antique and used, with
authentic signs of wear including cleaning
and polishing marks, scratches, and minor
knocks. Inside, there is a small soldered
area indicating an earlier professional repair
or restoration.

During the heyday of the Belle Époque and
Art Deco, the Café de Paris, located imme-
diately beside the Casino in Monte Carlo,
played an important role in the social life of
the European aristocracy.
Famous guests of the Café de Paris included
Gina Lollobrigida, Winston Churchill, and
Orson Welles, who also regularly stayed
directly opposite at the Hôtel de Paris.
To mark its 120th anniversary, the Café de
Paris underwent an extensive yet carefully
executed renovation in 1988, while pre-
serving its distinctive exterior Belle Époque
style intact.
