Kleine Drei-Karotten-Vase um 1930

Bronze-versilbert
hergestellt in schwerer Ausführung von der Pariser Silberschmiede CHRISTOFLE
Punzierung an der Innenseite einer Karotte

für das ehemalige Berliner Grandhotel Esplanade
Hotel Signet befindet sich außen auf einer der drei Karotten

Maße: Höhe ca. 11 cm – Breite unten ca. 5 cm – Breite Öffnung 4,5/5 cm – Gewicht ca. 358 g

Außergewöhnlicher Entwurf:
Die kleine Vase steht auf drei KarottenSpitzen.
Mit einem Band zusammengebunden bildet das KarottenGrün oben die Öffnung.

Zustand:
Die kleine Vase befindet sich in einem sehr gepflegten Zustand.
Minimale Gebrauchsspuren in Form von Putzspuren, zarten Kratzern sind vorhanden, jedoch unbedeutend.

Um 1860 öffnete Japan zum ersten Mal seine Türen zur Außenwelt:
Die westliche Welt entdeckte damals den Orientalismus, der alle dekorativen Künste bis zum Ende der
Jugendstilzeit beeinflussen sollte. Zahlreiche Künstler haben sich von dieser naturalistischen Bewegung
inspirieren lassen. Diese kleine „Drei-Karotten-Vase“ wurde erstmalig auf der Weltausstellung in Chicago
im Jahr 1893 als Beispiel für diese Strömung präsentiert.

Crafted in a heavy, high-quality design by the renowned Parisian silversmith CHRISTOFLE
Hallmarked on the inner side of one carrot.

Commissioned for the former Grand Hotel Esplanade in Berlin.
The hotel’s emblem is discreetly placed on the exterior of one of the three carrots.

Dimensions: Height approx. 4.33 in – Base width approx. 1.97 in – Opening width 1.77/1.97 in – Weight approx. 358 grams

An exceptional and whimsical design:
The vase elegantly stands on the pointed ends of three carrots.
A delicate ribbon gathers the carrot tops, forming the graceful opening at the top.

Condition:
This charming piece is in excellent, well-preserved condition.
Minor signs of wear, such as faint polishing marks and light surface scratches, are present but negligible.

Historical context:
Around 1860, Japan opened its doors to the Western world for the first time, sparking a fascination with
Orientalism that would profoundly influence the decorative arts until the end of the Art Nouveau era.
Many artists found inspiration in this naturalistic movement. This delightful “Three-Carrot Vase” was first
showcased at the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago as a prime example of this artistic current.
